I have been a registered dietitian (RD) since 2009 and have worked in hospitals, long term care, community settings, health promotion, in-patient and out-patient settings, urban and rural, pediatrics and geriatrics. I have seen in all. Nothing you can say or do about food will surprise me! I launched Eat Food Nutrition in 2025 in response to demand from family and friends for good nutrition advice about how to eat real food. Adding private practice and small business ownership to my list of experiences is new for me, but being a great dietitian isn't.
There have been a lot of food trends in the last decade and a half since I started practicing. While some things have come and gone, food remains. As a culture, many of us are busier and eating more processed and convenience foods than generations before. Many of us are disconnected from food, where it comes from, and how to enjoy it. It's time to get back to the basics of eating good food, slowing down and following our natural rhythms and intuitions.
I am not here to be an influencer. There is lots of great nutrition information out there already so I won't reinvent the wheel. Instead, I will give you my full attention as your health professional.
I am married to a shift working first responder who moves around. A lot. I have lived in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories (twice) and Nunavut. We have two children.
We currently live in Nunavut where groceries are flown in at great expense. Variety can be limited but that doesn't mean I can't still enjoy great food! I have learned to make sourdough, yogurt, sauerkraut, kombucha, apple cider vinegar, sprouts and micro greens. My philosophy is to enjoy the best quality food in its most natural form whenever it is available, accessible and affordable. That can look different for each person and each season.
If you want to talk about stretching your grocery budget, I am your girl! Busy family trying to balance it all? The struggle is real and I have learned a few things along the way. Explore a nutrition program that isn't a diet.
If you are looking for diets, restrictions, guilt, supplements or shakes; you won't find that here. Instead, you will learn how to trust your bodie's intuitions and hunger cues to choose what foods can nourish you best. You will learn to think about your relationship with food differently. You will practice meal planning and prep to ensure you have great food available and reduce decision fatigue, mealtime stress, and impulse eating. You will learn about gut health and how it affects mental health and how eating real food can heal your mind and body.
Hello and welcome! I am so glad you are here. People feel more comfortable when they know what to expect so this is a quick video to introduce myself and https://eatfoodnutrition.ca. You can see my face and hear my voice and know that I am more than a screen. If you book an appointment, it will always be with me.
